Natural Sicence: Finishing the unit

We are about to finish the Natural Science unit about the Locomotor System.
We will have the exam nest Monday 25th February.
Here you have the words and definitions of the glossary and the outline we have done today in class.
Next week we will do some review activities.



GLOSSARY

SKELETAL SYSTEM: It is the structure that gives our body its shape, it supports it, allows us to move and protects delicate organs. It’s made of bones.

BONES: They are solid and rigid organs in our body that make up the skeletal system. They contain mineral substances.

CARTILAGE: It is a soft, elastic tissue that covers the end of bones.

LIGAMENTS: They are flexible tissues that hold bones together in joints.

JOINTS: They are the point where two or more bones meet.

MUSCULAR SYSTEM: It consists of all the muscles in the body.

MUSCLES: They are elastic organs that contract or relax to create movement.

 TENDONS:  They are a flexible tissue that join muscles to bones.

BONE FRACTURE: It is an injury that happens when a bone breaks or cracks.

SPRAIN: It is a damage to a ligament, usually caused by twisting.

MUSCLE STRAIN: It is an injury that consists of an involuntary and prolonged muscle contraction.
