GLOSSARY
SKELETAL SYSTEM: It is the structure that gives our
body its shape, it supports it, allows us to move and protects delicate organs.
It’s made of bones.
BONES: They are solid and rigid organs in our body
that make up the skeletal system. They contain mineral substances.
CARTILAGE: It is a soft, elastic tissue that covers
the end of bones.
LIGAMENTS: They are flexible tissues that hold bones
together in joints.
JOINTS: They are the point where two or more bones
meet.
MUSCULAR SYSTEM: It consists of all the muscles in the
body.
MUSCLES: They are elastic organs that contract or
relax to create movement.
TENDONS: They are a flexible tissue that join muscles
to bones.
BONE FRACTURE: It is an injury that happens when a
bone breaks or cracks.
SPRAIN: It is a damage to a ligament, usually caused
by twisting.
MUSCLE STRAIN: It is an injury that consists of an
involuntary and prolonged muscle contraction.
