The fall of the Roman Empire and the Visigoth Kingdom

You have here what we have copied today on the notebooks.

THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE
In 476, the last Roman Emperor was defeated and the Roman Empire was divided into smallest kingdoms. This marks the beginning of the Middle Ages.
THE GERMANIC TRIBES
In 411, three Germanic tribes invaded the Peninsula.
-         The Suevi settled in the northeast, in Gallaecia.
-         The Alani occupied the centre, Lusitania and Carthaginensis.
-         The Vandals settled in the south, in Baetica.
THE VISIGOTH KINGDOM
The Romans asked for help to the Visigoths. They came to the Peninsula in 415 and expelled the Alani and the Vandals.
The Visigoths founded a powerful kingdom with Toledo as its capital.
In the 6th century, King Leovigildo defeated the Suevi and took control of the whole territory.

In 711, Muslims from the north of Africa invaded the Iberian Península and defeated Lord King Ruderico.

NOTEBOOKS

I'll give you a short explanation about the notebooks, in case you are not sure what you have to do.

At the end of each unit, the day of the exam, you'll have to give me a plastic folder containing all the work you have being doing during the unit. It must have:
- A front page with your name and surname, year and letter, title of the unit and glossary.
- At the back of the front page there will be an outline of the unit.
- All the activities, outlines and summaries we do during the unit, with the DATE and PAGE and TITLES and INSTRUCTIONS.
- The worksheet we use in class.

You can use pen to write dates, titles or instructions, but the answer to the questions MUST be in PENCIL.
You can use colours, but not very intense or that difficult the reading, and better if you use coloured pencils than markers.
The pages must be numbered.
The notebook has to be clean, tidy and neat.
The calligraphy has to be good and in an adequate size.

I'll show you some examples in class and I'll try to put here some pictures for you to see what a good notebook is.
